These terms apply to enrolments with Speak English Language Institute DMCC (License JLT-69341, Reg. JLT5581, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) and Speak English Language Institute FZ-LLC (License 52000139, RAKEZ), together referred to as "Speak English Institute", "we", "us", or "our". VAT TRN: 100589925500003.
1. General Terms
By enrolling in any course, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.
- Registration and material fees are charged separately from tuition.
- Full payment (tuition + registration + placement + materials) must be made before the course begins.
- We may cancel, reschedule, or modify a class, teacher, or programme for operational reasons. Where we do so, we may offer a replacement class, credit, transfer, or refund of tuition at our discretion.
- We reserve the right to change the teacher of any class at any time.
- Students may not invite guests into group classes without payment.
- Children under 10 may not be left unattended on the premises.
- All students must follow our Code of Conduct.
2. Payment Terms
Full payment is due before the course start date. Accepted methods: bank transfer, credit card, or cash.
For bank transfers, all transfer charges are the student's responsibility. International transfers must use the SWIFT "OUR" code.

3. Group Courses
All students must sit a placement test before joining. Please confirm your availability on chosen study days before enrolling.
- Missed classes cannot be rescheduled and are counted as taken.
- Individual group classes cannot be rescheduled; only full remaining weeks can be moved (rolling courses only; see Course Breaks).
- No refunds or credit notes are issued for missed individual group classes.
- Books and used materials are non-refundable.
Changing group or level
- Moving to the same or a lower level requires approval and seat availability. Changes cannot happen mid-week.
- Moving to a higher level requires passing an internal exam.
- Switching from group to private: weekly group rate is adjusted and an additional 10% is deducted from remaining credit.
- Continuing students are not guaranteed a seat until full payment or a AED 500 deposit is received.
4. Private Courses
- All private classes must be completed within 12 months of the first class. Unused classes after 12 months are forfeited.
- Classes start and finish at the scheduled time. Late arrivals are not compensated.
- Arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior notice may count as a missed class.
- Classes may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice.
- Classes cancelled within 24 hours (for any reason including sickness or family emergencies) cannot be rescheduled and are counted as taken.
- Unused private tuition may at our discretion be converted to group credit, subject to availability and price differences.
5. IELTS Courses
- The IELTS programme is a fixed 3-week course running continuously from the start date.
- All students must sit a placement test before joining.
- The weekly test day counts as a regular class; if missed, it cannot be rescheduled.
- We expect students to improve by 1.0 IELTS band. We cannot guarantee a specific band score.
- If a student attends 100% of classes, completes 100% of homework, and takes all practice tests but does not improve by 1.0 band, they may retake the course once (no cash value).
Before starting, you may postpone your start date once, provided we receive your request at least 3 days before the original start date (subject to availability and written confirmation).
6. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Cancellation before the course start date: Group & Private
Refunds apply to tuition fees only. Registration, placement, and material fees are non-refundable in all cases.

Withdrawal after the course has started: Group & Private
- Within 3 months of the start date: up to 50% of remaining tuition may be refunded at our discretion.
- After 3 months from the start date: no refund.

7. Course Breaks (Rolling Group Courses Only)
Students in rolling group courses may request a temporary break. This does not apply to IELTS or other fixed-duration programmes.
- Notice must be given by 5:00 PM Friday in the week before the affected week.
- A course change fee of AED 100 is payable when rescheduling remaining weeks.
- Approved credit must be used within 6 months; unused balances are forfeited after expiry.
- You must notify us at least 1 week before returning from a break.
- Your seat is not guaranteed during a break. You may be placed on a waiting list (typically 1–2 weeks at busy times).
- If a week is cancelled after 5:00 PM Friday but before Monday: 50% of that week's value is charged to reschedule.
- Weeks cancelled after the week has begun are counted as taken (including no-shows).
- If you miss a week without contacting us by Friday of that week, remaining weeks are automatically put on hold.
8. Attendance
Students must maintain a minimum attendance of 70% per month.
Students on a UAE student visa issued through Speak English Institute who fail to meet this requirement may be reported to UAE immigration authorities.
We do not provide supervision for students under 18 in adult courses. Students under 18 must submit a parental consent form before starting.
9. Expulsion
We may suspend or expel a student for misconduct, non-payment, attendance failure, or behaviour that disrupts classes, staff, or other students.
- All fees are non-refundable on expulsion.
- The student remains liable for any unpaid amounts and damage to property.
- Expelled students lose accommodation eligibility.
- If the student holds a UAE student visa with Speak English Institute, the visa will be immediately cancelled.
10. Public Holidays
We close for UAE Private Company Sector holidays only, not government holidays. If a scheduled class falls on a public holiday, we may offer a replacement class, extra study hours, or a credit note. No refunds are issued for holiday classes.
11. Social Events
Participation in social events is entirely voluntary. Event fees are non-refundable if you do not attend. We accept no liability for loss, damage, or injury during events. Third-party supplier terms also apply.
12. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including war, civil unrest, pandemics, government restrictions, natural disasters, transport disruption, or visa/border restrictions.
No refunds or compensation are due in a force majeure event. We may, at our sole discretion, offer alternative arrangements (rescheduling, online classes, credit). Any such arrangement is discretionary, not an entitlement.
13. Liability
Our liability is limited to what is expressly imposed by applicable UAE law. We are not liable for indirect losses, including loss of employment or visa complications.
Any damage caused by a student to our property (whether intentional or not) will be charged to the student or their parent/guardian.
14. Data Protection
We collect and process student data under UAE law for enrolment, academic progress, and legal compliance. Data is not shared with third parties except as required by law or with your explicit consent.
We do not share personal contact details with teachers, other students, or third parties. WhatsApp groups are voluntary and are not managed by Speak English Institute. Official communication takes place through our reception, official email, or student portal only.
15. Publicity
Photos, videos, and sound recordings taken at Speak English Institute may be used for promotional purposes (print, online, social media) without further consent or notification. If you do not wish to appear in promotional material, please inform your teacher or the reception team and we will respect your wishes.
16. Complaints
Please notify us in writing as soon as an issue arises. We will respond within 5 business days and work towards resolution within a reasonable timeframe. Unresolved disputes may be referred to the relevant UAE authorities.

17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, UAE.
