Semi-Intensive General English is the most popular course at Speak, and for good reason. Two hours a day, Monday to Friday, gives you consistent daily contact with the language — enough to make real progress without it taking over your schedule. Every lesson covers a mix of speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary, all taught through communicative tasks that reflect real-life situations.
Levels follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) from A2 (Elementary) to C1 (Upper-Intermediate/Advanced). You take a free placement test before starting so you join the right class, and you move up through end-of-level exams as your English improves. Rolling enrolment means you start any Monday and stay for as long as you need — from 1 week to a full year.

What you'll cover
Speaking & Conversation
Build fluency and confidence in real-life situations: discussions, debates, role plays, presentations, and everyday interactions.
Listening
Develop your ability to understand native speakers, different accents, and authentic audio material from a range of real-world contexts.
Reading
Improve your comprehension of texts, articles, and everyday written material appropriate to your CEFR level.
Writing
Produce clear, accurate written English: emails, essays, reports, and structured paragraphs with proper grammar and punctuation.
Grammar
Systematic grammar teaching integrated into communication tasks, with regular review, consolidation, and correction.
Vocabulary
Expand your active and passive vocabulary through topic-based units, reading, speaking tasks, and contextual learning.
Our teaching approach
At Speak, lessons are communicative and student-centred. Teachers use a task-based approach — you practise language by doing things with it: discussing, presenting, negotiating, and problem-solving — not just studying rules. Every lesson includes a mix of the four skills, and your teacher gives regular written and spoken feedback to guide your progress.
Classes are small by design — an average of 7 students, maximum 12 — which means you speak English in every lesson, not just when it's your turn. All teachers are native English speakers and CELTA-qualified. Weekly evaluations and end-of-level tests keep your progress visible and ensure the course adapts to your needs as you advance.
