Empowering Professionals at the Al Qasimi Foundation Job Fair: Our Experience

Earlier this year, the team from Speak English Institute had the pleasure of attending the Al Qasimi Foundation Job Fair in Ras Al Khaimah. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local businesses, speak with ambitious young Emiratis preparing to enter the workforce, and showcase how English language training can open doors in the UAE job market. Here is a summary of the day and what it meant for us and the students we serve.

About the Al Qasimi Foundation

The Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research is a leading think tank based in Ras Al Khaimah, established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. The Foundation supports education, policy development, and community initiatives across the emirate. Its annual job fair brings together employers and job seekers in a dynamic and well-organised setting, drawing participants from across RAK and beyond.

Meeting Companies Eager for English Training

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was speaking with HR managers and business owners from a wide range of industries, including hospitality, construction, healthcare, and retail. A recurring theme in our conversations was the need for English language proficiency among their workforce. Several companies expressed a strong interest in group training programmes for their employees. Our Business English courses are specifically designed to address exactly this need, helping professionals communicate more effectively in meetings, emails, and client-facing situations.

Several companies at the fair were exploring options for in-company English training, where our instructors deliver sessions at the workplace rather than requiring employees to travel to our campus. This flexible model has been growing in popularity across the UAE, and the job fair gave us the chance to explain the practical and financial advantages of this approach.

Young Emiratis Preparing for the Workforce

We also had the chance to speak with many young Emiratis who were attending the job fair to explore career opportunities for the first time. For a number of them, English was the main barrier standing between them and their preferred role. Many of the positions on offer required a good level of spoken and written English, particularly in sectors such as tourism, banking, and aviation.

We were proud to be able to point these young people towards our Ras Al Khaimah campus, which is conveniently located and offers the same high standard of teaching as our Dubai campus. For students based in RAK who do not want to commute to Dubai for classes, our local campus is the ideal solution.
